About The Workshop

The workshop is targeted at a multi-disciplinary audience, and aims to highlight how network-based perspectives can yield significant insights into the workings of the brain. Particular attention will be paid to structural and functional connectomes across species, ranging from the nematode C. elegans to primates & humans: their roles in mediating brain function and facilitating computation. Participants will gain experience in applying a range of theoretical frameworks to address research questions through lectures as well as group projects. The latter will span topics ranging from modelling collective activity in small networks of neurons to applying network science methods to the analysis of macro-connectomes.

Topics to be covered:

  • Neurodynamics
  • Neural Mass Models
  • Statistical Physics of Neural Networks
  • Inferring Structure-Function Relations From Connectome Data
  • Modelling Cognitive Processes
  • Theory of Learning
  • Reconstructing Brain Structural Networks
