G.T. Walker to Dewsbury
Dated 26-2-1913

Dr. G.T. Walker’s contact with Ramanujan's work (on February 25, 1913), Sir Francis Spring and Mr. Narayana Iyer, and Hardy’s encouraging reply, made Walker write to the Registrar of the University of Madras, that it was perfectly clear to him: “that the university would be justified in enabling S. Ramanujan for a few years at least to spend the whole of his time on mathematics without any anxiety as to his livelihood.”
