Here are the stats on the mail that was finally delivered to my address at IMSc during May 2008. The "devnull" messages are those that were instantly sent to /dev/null, the "junk" messages were messages that were sent to a separate folder --- all of those too turned out to be spam!

Total Number of Messages = 7227
Total Number of Devnull Messages = 3786
Total Number of Junk Messages = 887
Residual Number of Useful messages	= 7227 - 3786 - 887
					= 2554
Total size of all messages = 63424639
Total size of all devnull messages = 25108431
Total size of all junk messages = 10975780
Total size of all useful messages	= 63424639 - 25108431 - 10975780
					= 27340428

A substantial reduction from previous months seems to be due to the introduction of mailing lists for bulk aliases at IMSc. About 600 spam messages were dropped by mailman!
