Here are the stats on the mail that was finally delivered to my address at IMSc during March 2008. The "devnull" messages are those that were instantly sent to /dev/null, the "junk" messages were messages that were sent to a separate folder --- all of those too turned out to be spam!

Total Number of Messages = 9370
Total Number of Devnull Messages = 4781
Total Number of Junk Messages = 2740
Residual Number of Useful messages      = 9370 - 4781 - 2740
                    = 1849
Total size of all messages = 57113600
Total size of all devnull messages = 28700792
Total size of all junk messages = 11560530
Total size of all useful messages       = 57113600 - 28700792 - 11560530
                    = 16852278

A substantial spurt in spam from previous months. Now about a third of the mail is spam!
