This 2-day workshop is aimed at mathematics teachers of classes XI and XII. The broad goal of this series of workshops is to bring research mathematicians and school teachers together in an effort to enrich mathematics education in schools. How to register for participation? We are inviting schools in Chennai to nominate their mathematics teachers to attend the workshop. The teachers should ideally be handling classes XI and/or XII, and the total number of nominations allowed is limited to a maximum of five. Invitations to the schools on our address list (which by no means is complete) are being sent by regular mail (ordinary post). Wherever email is available, we are also sending the invitations by email. We are also sending out email alerts to all school teachers whose addresses figure on our database with the request that they ensure participation of their respective schools.
To nominate teachers for participation, all that the head (or other representative) of the school has to do is to send an email to maths.outreach.imsc@gmail.com clearly indicating the following:
Deadline for sending nominations: Tuesday, September 1st, 2015. Nominations will be accepted, mostly on a first-come-first-served basis, until we reach our capacity. It is recommended that you respond quickly.
Confirmation of nominations: Once the nominating email from a school is received and accepted, the name of the school (along with the names of teachers) will be added to the list of participants. While this list will be updated frequently, please do allow a few days time for the name of your school to show up on it.
My school would like to participate but we have not received an invitation. What to do? Please consider yourself invited and send an email: see the instructions in the "How to register for participation?" section above.
I am a mathematics teacher of class XI / XII. My school is not participating. Can I myself register to participate?: We generally prefer teachers to come through their schools. But we will consider requests from individual teachers, with preference being given to those from schools that are not participating. Such a teacher may send an email to the address mentioned above with the following information: name of the teacher, name of the school, brief writeup (not exceeding 100 words) about why he/she is interested in participating. Names of the selected teachers will be included in the list of participants.
