Joint International Workshop

on

Dynamics of Networks and Spatially Extended Systems

January 21-23, 2002

Kolkata (Calcutta), India

Venue:
The workshop will take place at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, 1/AF Bidhan Nagar, Kolkata (Calcutta), India. For details about the location and travel information see Workshop Location and Travel Information.

Objective:
The study of spatially extended systems and networks is the next step for the field of nonlinear dynamics as they are ubiquitous in the real world. Recent discoveries in the dynamics of such systems have catalysed new advances into the study of large, complex systems. The workshop aims to introduce these exciting areas to a broad scientific audience.

Participation:
The main target audience for the workshop are researchers at the junior faculty and postdoc level, and interested senior graduate students. For information regarding participation (including application format) see Workshop Participation .

Schedule:
18 invited talks of one hour duration each are planned over the three days of the workshop - the details are given in the workshop schedule. A poster session of one and half hours has been arranged on the second day. Presenters will be given a short time to highlight their principal findings to the assembled audience. A ``brainstorming session'' will allow intensive group discussions to take place. A workshop dinner is scheduled on the evening of 22nd January.
