Prof. P.V. Seshu Aiyar knew Ramanujan
as a student of the Government Arts College, Kumbakonam. Later
he became a professor of mathematics at the Presidency College,
Madras. When Ramanujan approached him at the Presidency College,
at the instance of Prof. Ramaswamy Iyer, he was given a note of
introduction to Dewan Bahadur Ramachandra Rao, the then district
collector of Nellore, stationed at Thirukkoilur.
