Ramanujan’s reply dated February 27, 1913
|
Ramanujan’s
first reaction, in Feb. 1913 to the India Office in London was
a refusal to go to Cambridge. Ramanujan
sent his second letter, dated February 27, 1913, with many more
results and took up the issue of why he was not sending any proofs
by stating that “… you will not be able follow my
methods of proof if I indicate the lines on which I proceed in
a single letter.”
