I presently do NOT have any short term project in mind, so I can NOT supervise any summer student - or any kind of intern(s)!
If you are interested, please keep an eye on this page. Any such opportunity will be announced here.
At the present moment, I have no plan to supervise long-term projects of external (non-IMSc) students.
I do astrophysics, neither cosmology nor quantum gravity.
Although I do theory, modeling, data-analysis, observation - everything; presently I am spending more time in observational aspects. Observational explorations result in better understanding of theory and test competing theories. Moreover, there will be many amazing facilities (national and international) in the future that will lead many excellent discoveries.
I am a member of Indian Pulsar Timing Array, which is a full member of International Pulsar Timing Array.

To do neutron star astrophysics (types of work I do), the skills needed are (everything is not needed for every project): (i) classical mechanics, (ii) basic special relativity and general relativity, (iii) numerical methods, (iii) introductory electrodynamics, (iv) introductory particle physics (v) little bit of statistics, (vi) any programming language like python, c, or fortran, (and one will need to learn things whenever needed - I still enjoy learning new things). Knowing python has some advantages. (vi) inclination to do computation, (vii) ability to work independently as well as in collaboration, (viii) *ability to maintain deadlines*.
(ix) Depending on the particular pulsar you are interested, you might have long observations scheduled overnight and/or on Sundays and/or on national holidays.
(x) You might need to travel to other cities in India quite often (sometimes might be to cities in abroad, depending on the opportunities and funding).
If you want to do a PhD with me, you can write to me after you:
(i) Checked some of my papers from my google scholar page (you can get free arXiv versions), (ii) various tabs of my website, (iii) talked to my group members/ex-members.
We can then schedule a meeting (either online or offline) and depneding on mutual interests and compatibility of working styles, we can devise a problem.
I am also interested in hosting post-docs. Please write to me if you think we have an overlap of research interests, so that we can discuss logistical issues. Before writing to me, it is advisable if you check these websites:
