Chennai is the capital of South Indian state Tamilnadu and often called Cultural Capital of South India. It is located on the coast of Bay of Bengal and well connected by air, rail and road network. Please visit here to see various means to reach Chennai.

IMSc is just off the Old Mahabalipuram Road (a.k.a. Rajiv Gandhi Salai). This is a few minutes walk from both the CPT bus stop and the Indira Nagar suburban railway station. The railway track and Buckingham canal lie to the east of the road. IMSc is on the west side, on 4th Cross Road. Another prominent landmark is Women's Polytechnic at the beginning of 4th Cross Road. Vehicles coming from the north have to go to Tidel Park, take a U-turn, and come back. Please refer to the map for a clearer picture. In it, Old Mahabalipuram Road is referred to as “Rajiv Gandhi IT Expressway”. More elaborate directions can be found in the Getting to IMSc page of the IMSc web page.
