In September 1888, Komalathammal returned to Kumbakonam and joined her husband. The pet name she used for Ramanujan was Chinnaswamy, meaning Little Lord. By then the father had his son’s horoscope cast by experts, who reckoned that Ramanujan was destined for great achievements.

Independently, Ramanujan’s mother, herself well versed in casting horoscopes, had come to a similar conclusion.
