K. S. Krishnan Discussion Meeting on

Frontiers in Quantum Science 09

December 21-22, 2009

The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, India

The gauge-gravity dualities, such as the AdS/CFT correspondence, that emerged out of string theory provide novel and powerful techniques to address some aspects of a class of strongly coupled field theories. There have been recent attempts to use these techniques to address certain strongly correlated electron systems and quantum phase transitions in condensed matter systems. The research in this field is still in its infancy and the utility and scope of these methods in condendensed matter physics is still to be fully explored. The purpose of this discussion meet is to bring experts from both sides together and have a fruitful dialogue on this exciting new frontier in quantum science.
