Scientific Overview
The Indian Women and Mathematics Symposium 2012 is a forum for
encouraging and supporting women in mathematical careers. It will
provide
a venue for recent Ph.D.s to present their research. There will be
invited talks and
panel discussions featuring accomplished women mathematicians.
Junior women will have
many opportunities to interact with their senior colleagues, both
individually and in small groups.
A major goal of the symposium is to expose undergraduate and graduate
students and
postdoctoral scholars
to a wide range of career possibilities and experiences in academia,
business, and
industry. There will be presentations and discussion fora addressing
this aspect,
including an afternoon devoted to presentations on, mathematics,
statistics and the
financial world. The information and the opportunity to establish
contacts by the
participants in the symposium will foster connections between
generations of women
who pursue careers in a broad spectrum of areas linked by the beauty
and utility of mathematics.

Due to limited Auditorium capacity, the registration is closed.
We will have a video recording of the lectures/discussions and it will be on this
website,
soon after the symposium. Web-streaming will also be available at the IMSc
website,
for online - viewing of the Symposium proceedings on 8,9,10 Jan.
