Origin, Evolution and Diversity of Amphibians in the Western Ghats
The Western Chats are among the oldest tropical hills known for their rich amphibian diversity. They harbour 65% of India's amphibian species of which 87"., are endemic, suggesting a long history of evolution and diversification in this mountain range. This talk highlights the biogeographic and climatic factors that have played a role in shaping the patterns of amphibian endemism and diversity in the Western Ghats.
