The proclamation of 14 March as the International Day of Mathematics (IDM) was adopted by the General Conference of the UNESCO in November 2019. The inaugural celebration of the IMD is on March 14, 2020. The theme of IDM this year is "Mathematics is everywhere".

IMSc celebrates IDM this year with programmes for advanced undergraduate (BSc third year) and postgraduate (MSc) students of mathematics. Students in other scientific or engineering disciplines with a background in college level mathematics can also apply.

The speakers include:
Rajeeva Karandikar (CMI), R. Shankar (rtd., IMSc), Shantha Bhushan (APU), Sitabhra Sinha (IMSc)

The program is free of cost. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
However, participants have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation.

We also encourage schools and colleges to also take up their own mathematical activities to locally celebrate IDM.

Posters Invited

We also invite participants to submit posters. 20 will be slected for display on the day of the program.
The posters can be about any topic in Mathematics. In addtion, please make sure your poster fulfills these requirements Email posters to outreach@imsc.res.in before 9th March 2019.
