Below is a short discussion I had with Herr Hans Reiser (NameSys and ReiserFS) and Professor Richard Stallman (GNU, gcc, emacs and FSF) regarding the April-May 2003 debate on invariant sections and proper attribution.
At the end I posted a suggestion on debian-legal about how Debian could handle this issue.
