Quantum Science Centre

Quantum Mechanics has transformed science and technology in the last one hundred years, in ways unforeseen. It is opening new frontiers. There are emerging themes and fields such as i) novel quantum matter ii) quantum information and quantum computing iii) quantum mathematics and iv) quantum biology. Many deep issues, some of them philosophical looking, related to the very structure of quantum mechanics, have become of practical relevance now, thanks to developments in modern technology and material science. Quantum mechanics has provided a new power to science and technology.

New partnership, among physicists, and between physicists, computer scientists and pure mathematicians are being made all over the world. Quantum Science Centre (QSC), a part of Matscience will help take advantage of the on going revolution in quantum science in the international level and contribute to it, by creating a synergy at Matscience.

There will be a proactive and planned international visitor program, involving young and active scientists, who will visit us for a few months and collaborate with our faculty. We will also take advantage of outstanding partners from Universities and Institutes within Chennai and India. Workshops on new emerging themes will be conducted at Matscience. Outreach program to train new generation of our college students for quantum science will be another mission of QSC.
