About The Workshop

The workshop aims at integrating the principal classes of pattern formation paradigms that have been proposed to explain biological development, e.g., using morphogen gradients to provide cells with positional information or local signaling between cells resulting in lateral inhibition or activation, and how these processes interact with the dynamics of genetic regulatory network within each cell that shape the landscapes governing the developmental trajectory.

The conclave – involving experts in different domains – will be an invaluable exposure for participants to the quest for understanding how form and organization arises during development, its breakdown leading to pathological outcomes such as in cancer, and how these mechanisms may change overthe course of evolution.

  • Developmental pattern formation: evolution, plasticity, robustness, resilience
  • Morphogenesis
  • Gene regulatory dynamics
  • Waddington landscape
  • Intra-cellular signalling and inter-cellular communication
  • Cell fate choice dynamics
  • Self-organized and boundary-organized symmetry breaking
