Ramanujan to Krishna Rao

Ramanujan wrote to his friend Krishna Rao:

“Mr. Hardy, Mr. Neville and others here are unassuming, kind and obliging.  As soon as I came here,  Mr. Hardy paid  £ 20 to the college for my entrance and other fees and made arrangements to give me a scholarship of £ 40 a year.”
