How does Hindutva stand in relation to science and technology in India?
We have argued above that experience shows that all fundamentalism
is basically inimical to scientific advance.
Science and fundamentalism cannot coexist. There is not a single example
in the contemporary world of a theocratic, non-secular state in which
science and technology have made worthwhile strides. In such societies,
bold, creative thinking, uninhibited experimentation, freedom of
intellectual pursuit and expression are seriously retarded. This reality
is brought out in the short track record of Hindutva vis a vis science in
India.
