This sofware package is a collection of several numerical & optimization techniques programs. The software is menu driven and allows the user to select the method, enter the required input data (example : equations ) and the stopping criterion.

PROTEIN SECONDARY STRUCTURE PREDICTION USING CHOU-FASMAN ALGORITHM & FSKBANN.
This project was on protein secondary structure prediction using the standard Chou-Fasman algorithm and the Finite state Knowledge based Artificial Neural Network (FSKBANN), following " R. Maclin & J. W. Shavlik (1993). Using Knowledge-based Neural Networks To Improve Algorithms: Refining the Chou-Fasman Algorithm for Protein Folding. Machine Learning, 11, pp. 195-215. " The method translates the rule-like knowledge in an automaton (basically derived from Chou-Fasman algorithm) into a corresponding artificial neural network, and then refines the reformulated automaton by applying backpropagation to a set of examples. This method was tested with different set of protein and the results were compared with that of the original Cou-Fasman algorithm and neural networks trained using the standard approach.

MEDIAN FILTERING BY THRESHOLD DECOMPOSITION
One of the important operations in digital image processing is cleaning of noise in an image using a filtering technique. This project practical implementation of a mmethod of median filtering,Following J.P.Fitch, E.J.Coyle and N.C.Gallaghar, "Median Filtering by Threshold decomposition "IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, Vol. ASSP - 32, (1984) 1183-88. They have given the theoritical proof of this method. Prior to our project,there seems to have been no serious work on the literature in the practical implementation of this method. In this project we have studied the implemntation of this method and have proposed the circuitry for its VLSI implementaion. Simulation and Synthesis of our VLSI design have been carried out and it is found that the design for the new method is simple.
