Note added Chandrayaan-2 was launched on 22 July 2019. It included the Orbiter that would keep orbiting around the moon, the Vikram lander that would land on the moon, carrying the Pragyan rover that would descend from Vikram aftger it had landed, and explore the moon's surface. However, Vikram crashed on landing. The orbiter is still orbiting the moon on a polar orbit and is expected to take data for about 7.5 years, not just for the planned one year of operation.
