GUIDELINES FOR HOMEWORK ----------------------- 1. Collaborative work and use of reference books is allowed. However, the student should fully understand the solution before writing it down in his/her own words. 2. Solutions should be clear and easy to read. This does not mean that more detail is always better. Instead, concentrate on organising the solutions in such a way as to make clear the notation introduced and the main ideas in the solution (which could be highlighted using headings). 3. Please leave a generous margin for corrections and remarks. 4. 60% score on homework at the end of three weeks and midterm will be expected for a student to be eligible to continue for a passing grade. 5. Homework will be announced in class and will be posted on the course website (http://www.imsc.res.in/~amri/CiRT), and has to be submitted in class on the due date or before (it can be dropped off in my letter box at the reception). 6. Based on availability of time, only a (randomly selected) subset of homework problems will be corrected, and howework grades will be based on these.
