dc.description.abstract This thesis is focused on studying issues related to the very early epochs of the universe often referred to as inflation. Inflation is a paradigm which, as we shall discuss, is considered to be responsible for the generation of the primordial per- turbations. A competing paradigm are the bouncing scenarios wherein the big bang is avoided and is replaced by a big bounce. Specifically, this thesis exam- ines inflationary and bouncing scenarios driven by two scalar fields. Before we go on to discuss the contents of the thesis, in this chapter, we shall provide the background that will help in appreciating the issues discussed in this thesis. en_US
