A day of fun and discovery at IMSc’s Open Day

The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, welcomed school students and the general public on its annual Open Day held on 12th September. PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, staff and faculty at the Institute came together to organise the event, featuring talks, experiments and demonstrations. Over 450 visitors, including 8-12 standard students and teachers from government schools around Chennai and members of the general public, explored various activities spread across the campus. There were simple experiments that could be recreated at home, engaging games and demonstrations, interactive talks by IMSc faculty, and a tour of the Institute’s public library. Students invited from government schools returned home with popular science books in English and Tamil at the end of the event.
