Bogomolov property for infinite Galois extensions
Anup Dixit
IMSc
The theme of Lehmer-Mahler problem concerns with lower bounds on heights of algebraic numbers. In this talk, we discuss a result of Bombieri and Zannier, which provides a sufficient condition for lower bounds on heights over infinite Galois extensions, in terms of the eventual complete splitting of primes. We will also discuss the difficulties in the non-Galois case and allude to some recent works with Sushant Kala.
(Note: This is the first talk in the number theory seminar this semester. We will have a short organizational meeting before the talk.)
