Singularity category and Knorrer periodicity

Singularity category was first introduced by Orlov motivated by
Kontsevich's
work on Homological mirror symmetry. Orlov relates singularity category to
the
category of matrix factorisations introduced by Eisenbud for hypersurface
singularities.
In this talk we will describe some basic properties of singularity
category and mention Orlov's description of the classical Knorrer
periodicity using the singularity category.
