Ram Naidu

The concert is in memory of Smt. Vidya Shankar (1919-2010), an eminent musicologist known for her brilliant lecture demonstrations, publications and her highly aesthetic veena music.

Dr. Ram Naidu is a senior disciple of Vidya Shankar. He began learning the veena from Smt. Jagadambal Charles. He then studied with Smt. Vidya Shankar for over two decades and accompanied his guru in many lecture-demonstrations and concerts. This concert, a tribute to his guru’s music, will showcase various aspects of her musical style and immense scholarship.

He will be accompanied by Kalaimamani Smt. N. S. Rajam, a senior mridangam artist. She started learning from her grandfather Azhiyur Ramamritham Iyer and later from Thiruvarur Rajagopal Iyer. Smt. Rajam, who is also a veena player and teacher, had accompanied Smt. Vidya Shankar in many concerts.
