Spinoriality of Representations of Lie Groups

Let $G$ be a connected semisimple complex Lie group and $\pi: G
\to SO(V)$ an orthogonal representation with highest weight $\lambda$.  We
give a polynomial formula in $\lambda$ which determines whether $\pi$ lifts
to a homomorphism $\tilde{\pi}: G \to Spin(V)$.
