Algebras and Entropies for Black Holes and De Sitter Space

I will give a somewhat abstract answer to the question
of why entropy is better defined for gravity than for ordinary quantum
fields, in part following my paper ``Gravity and
the Crossed Product'' arXiv:2112.12828, and in part based on work to
appear with V. Chandrasekharan and G. Penington.
