Modeling Active Transport in Axons

In this thesis, we model vesicle transport in axons, benchmarking our results to experimental data on the touch neurons of C. elegans. Our model is based on describing multiple transport states of axonal cargo. We allow for multiple transport tracks, sidestepping and reversals, as well as account for obstacles. This enables a detailed study of how cargo motility characteristics can be tuned to enable cargo transport and how the regulation of vesicle transport by stationary vesicle clusters might occur in the presence of crowding
