The main aim of this field is to study the abelianized etale fundamental group of a quasi projective variety in terms of a cycle-theoretic group. This is part of the Global class field theory for a smooth projective curve over a finite field. In this talk, we shall focus on higher dimensional quasi-projective varieties over finite fields. We shall define two notations of etale fundamental groups with modulus and discuss their class field theory. We shall also see that these two fundamental groups with modulus agree when our variety is smooth.
