Higgs bundles on ruled surfaces and Nef and Pseudoeffective cones of certain projective varieties.

In the first part of this talk, we will discuss about the (semi)stability of a Higgs bundle on a ruled
surface X under the ruling.In the second part, we will discuss about the nef cone and pseudoeffective cone of the product of projective bundles over a smooth curve. Combining the results in both parts, we will show that the
nef cone and pseudoeffective cone both coincide in certain cases.
