On the symmetries of base n expansion of 1/m : The class number connection

Any natural number n > 1 can be a base for representation of rational numbers. The most common one is the decimal representation (base 10). Given such a base n and an integer m, the base n expansion of 1/m contains rich number theoretic information. We shall try to understand some of these symmetries and how they are connected with class numbers of imaginary quadratic fields. This is a joint work with Prof. Kalyan Chakraborty.
