q-Whittaker polynomials: a view from many sides

The q-Whittaker polynomials are well-studied specializations of the celebrated Macdonald symmetric functions. We describe three different monomial expansions for these polynomials: the so-called fermionic formula and the inv- and quinv-expansions. We describe a new bijection which relates their underlying parameterizing sets and an application to representations of affine Kac-Moody algebras. This is based on joint work with Aritra Bhattacharya and T V Ratheesh.
