Equivariant Algebraic K-theory and Derived completion

Roy Joshua

Derived completion is a technique that originated slightly over
20 years ago.
However, Gunnar Carlsson may have been the first to realize the true
potential of this
technique, especially in the context of Algebraic K-theory. The goal of
this talk is to
discuss some applications of this technique, especially in the context of
our joint work
with Carlsson, to equivariant algebraic K-theory. For example, we prove a
form of the
Atiyah-Segal type completion theorem without any of the usual finiteness
hypotheses.
