This is a paper by Rohit Parikh (Research in Economics, 2003). The main result proves that there are only countably many different levels of (common) knowledge and all of them are regular sets. In the later part, he discusses connections between levels of knowledge and game theoretic strategies. I shall try to give the outline of the proofs and discuss various examples mentioned in the paper.
