Is geometric phase unique?

Vivek Vyas

IIIT Vadodara

In this talk we shall see that the notion of geometric phase, as conceived by Pancharatnam and later popularised by Berry, is not unique. Following the footsteps of Pancharatnam, we shall discuss operator generalisation of the notions of the relative phase and the geometric phase. It shall be evident that the usual geometric phase is a special case of the generalised one. The physical manifestations of the generalised geometric phase, as also the underlying mathematical framework shall be discussed. (Based on arXiv: quant-ph/2301.10929)
