Pure Spinor Superstrings: Massive States

Subhroneel Chakrabarti

IMSc

Despite the considerable success of pure spinor formalism in the massless sector, the massive sector remained largely ignored since its inception. In this talk, I will describe the developments in the massive sector of pure spinor superstrings that was undertaken in a series of papers by me and my collaborators. In particular, we will explicitly construct the vertex operators and their fully covariant theta expansion for the first massive states of open superstrings. In turn, this will lead us to hypothesize a general systematic methodology of constructing vertex operators for any massive state. We will conclude with the explicit demonstration of equivalence of pure spinor and RNS formulation for first massive states (this is the first time in the literature such an explicit equivalence is shown beyond the massless sectors).
