Probability distribution functions of relevant first passage Brownian functionals: Few case studies for classical systems and extension for a quantum case

Brownian functionals have wide range of applications in physics, statistics, mathematics, and other fields of interest. In this talk, I will discuss about the probability distribution functions of relevant first passage Brownian functional for physically motivated systems. The modelled systems of interest are: DNA breathing dynamics in the presence of periodic forcing, polymer translocation across an oscillating nanopore and snowmelt dynamics. The systems are modelled by an overdamped Langevin equation with time dependent drift and diffusion terms. Finally, I will also talk about the quantum version of first passage time, better known as first detection time due to the discrete nature of measurement process.
