b-->c l nu anomalies in light of extended scalar sectors

We explore the scope of scalar type new physics in explaining the present charged current anomalies that have experimentally been observed. We consider two separate cases, where the corresponding Wilson coefficient has been simultaneously taken to be complex and real. We use two benchmark models to further illustrate our results. For the case with real scalar Wilson coefficient, we use the Georgi-Machacek model. To illustrate the case with the complex coefficient, we choose a specific form of leptoquark model. We find that models with extended Higgs sectors(which have a real scalar Wilson coefficient) are disfavoured by the experimental data upto 3 sigma, if one takes into account all the different experimental results that are presently available on the charged current anomalies.
