Occasional uncoupling induced chaotic synchronization

Sagar Chakraborty

Synchronization between two dissipative chaotic systems requires coupling so that each others characteristics are shared between them. In the papers [1,2,3] listed below, we have found, quite counter-intuitively, that occasional uncoupling can induce synchronization in unsynchronizable units of chaotic oscillators. In the present talk, we shall review these results. Subsequently, we shall discuss two related ongoing works that, apart from extending the aforementioned results to the measure synchronization in Hamiltonian systems, try to find the reason behind the phenomenon of occasional uncoupling induced synchronization.
