The Geometry of Closed String Theory - I

In this lecture series we shall discuss the construction of both the perturbative and a nonperturbative definition of closed string theory using the hyperbolic geometry of Riemann surfaces and the symplectic geometry of the moduli space of Riemann surfaces.
