Belle II and SuperKEKB: New Physics and the Next Generation

Thomas E. Browder

University of Hawaii at Manoa

Recent results now suggest that flavor physics could be an alternative path to breaking the Standard Model of particle physics. I will review the startup of Belle II and SuperKEKB, which began in April 2018, and the first physics run that is scheduled to begin in March 2019 as well as the the long term physics program of Belle II and the innovative technologies that have made it possible. Belle II will soon become the leading experiment for exploration of the physics of B mesons, D mesons and tau leptons. I will also discuss the special role of India in Belle II.
