Constraints on non-invertible symmetries in 2+1D QFTs

Recent years have seen a lot of activity on generalized and non-invertible symmetries of quantum field theories. I will begin the talk by introducing these notions and their applications to constraining the dynamics of QFTs. After discussing some examples, I will introduce the problem of classifying consistent non-invertible symmetries and derive some general constraints on the existence of non-invertible symmetries in 2+1D QFTs. This talk is based on the paper arXiv: 2309:15189 with Matthew Buican.
