I will discuss a generic framework to obtain stable dark matter along with naturally small Dirac neutrino masses generated at the loop level. This is achieved through the spontaneous breaking of the Standard Model global $B-L$ symmetry to its residual $Z_n$ subgroups. In this framework, the Dirac nature of neutrinos, their naturally small mass obtained at loop level and dark matter stability are all simultaneously obtained without need to add any new symmetry beyond the $B-L$ symmetry already present in Standard Model. I will also provide some explicit model examples to show the idea in action.
