Quantum Thermodynamics

Quantum thermodynamics is a subject which, as the name suggests is an intersection of thermodynamics and quantum mechanics. There has been some research done showing that small quantum systems or specifically qubits can actually be made a part of thermal machines. In the following papers that I am going to follow it goes a bit further to show that refrigerators can be designed which are almost self contained, in a sense that only some qubits have contact with macroscopic heat reservoirs and otherwise completely independent of interactions with macroscopic objects.
