Phenomenological and foundational aspects of non-Markovianity

s a result of recent experimental and theoretical developments in quantum information theory, technological aspects of the subject has drawn significant interest. Realization of this technology, named as quantum technology, requires understanding and developing quantum systems which are open to the environment. We study phenomenological and foundational aspects of Markovianity which is a characteristic feature of open quantum systems. We first consider a phenomenological model which can seen as a close approximation to the largely used spin bath model. We study transition from non-Markovianity to Markovianity in this model. Next we consider different inequivalent definitions of Markovianity and attempt to develop a generalized approach to Markovianity in general.
