An effective field theory for thermal matter

Sourendu Gupta

TIFR

Much is known about thermal strongly interacting matter from lattice simulations. At the same time there is fifty years of lore about deconfinement and chiral symmetry restoration. We attempt to constrain the speculative bits by trying to write down an effective field theory, finding its mean field solution and examining the fluctuations around it.
