How effective, field theory is?

The talk will begin with the scope of physical theories and go into how the "field" concept emerged historically. It will dwell upon what relativistic quantum field theory buys us even at the kinematic level and also the success of the specific theories. Finally, we go into a change in the perspective on what quantum field theory is. In the course of the talk, I will relate to the contents of my recent book "Introduction to quantum field theory: concepts and applications".
